An initiative to tackle speeding drivers is now up and running in Goring.
Residents and panel members of Goring Ward are the first volunteers to form a community speed watch group in the Worthing area.
The volunteers attended a training session to learn how to set up and operate a Speed Indicator Display (SID) to advise drivers about their speeding. Sussex Police believes this will enable local communities to get actively involved with speed and casualty reduction.
PCSO Ed Mitchell said: “Community speed watch supports the police by monitoring the speed of vehicles through local communities. It is an opportunity for communities to engage in a local problem, increase public awareness of inappropriate speed and improve the quality of life in their community.”
It is hoped further speed watch groups will be launched in the Broadwater, Offington and Tarring areas of Worthing at a later date.
